A&D Reservoir Engineer

Summary
We are hiring an Acquisitions Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is focused on evaluating new mineral and royalty acquisition opportunities, building economic models, running sensitivities, and delivering actionable deal recommendations to our investment committee. You will be expected to evaluate a high volume of opportunities across multiple basins and move quickly without sacrificing rigor. In addition, you will support the reserves team on an as-needed basis (~20% of time), helping with quarterly updates and integration of new acquisitions into the corporate database. This is an in-office role at our Dallas headquarters and reports to the EVP Engineering/COO.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Deal Evaluation & Underwriting (~80%)
Evaluate new mineral and royalty acquisition opportunities from origination through close, including type curves, locations, and PDP modeling.
Run deal-level sensitivities on commodity pricing, development timing, and spacing assumptions to frame risk/reward.
Prepare investment materials and present deal recommendations to company with clear, data-driven narratives.
Collaborate with the land team to reconcile ownership, unit configurations, and net revenue interest assumptions.
Reserves Support (~20%)
Support the Reserves Manager with quarterly reserves updates across the Elk Range portfolio (~10,000+ well database across multiple entities).
Integrate newly closed acquisitions and recent activity wells into the corporate ComboCurve database.
Assist with production forecast adjustments, decline curve maintenance, and development timing model updates.

Hard Skills
Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
1–5 years’ experience in acquisitions, reservoir engineering, or economic evaluation of oil and gas assets.
Technical proficiency in ComboCurve/Aries for decline curve analysis and economic modeling.
Working knowledge of Spotfire/Power BI for data visualization and QGIS/ArcGIS for geospatial analysis.
Python, SQL, git skills are a strong plus.
Travel Requirements
Potential 5%–10% domestic and international travel required for meetings, trainings, and conferences. International travel would involve an annual on-site training session with the team in India.
