  • Charlie Shufeldt

    PRESIDENT & CEO

    Charlie Shufeldt is the President and CEO of Elk Range Royalties. Elk Range was formed in early 2020 by Charlie and Clinton Koerth, to acquire minerals and royalties in core oil and gas basins in the US. Elk Range remains an active buyer of mineral and royalty interests in the US and has partnered with NGP Energy, an investment firm with an over 30-year history of investing in the oil and gas business. Elk Range is currently investing capital out of its second equity commitment from NGP under Elk Range Royalties II, LP. Elk Range Royalties III, LP is expected to be launched in early 2025.

    Prior to forming Elk Range, Charlie was a co-founder and Managing Director of IOG Capital, LP and President of IOG Resources, LLC. During his time with IOG, the company was a pioneer in structuring DrillCo transactions, deploying over $800mm in capital across more than 500 wells since 2015.

    Charlie began his career with Bank of America in California and New York before moving to Texas with HBK Capital Management. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University where he studied Economics and Computer Science. Charlie has remained involved with his alma mater and previously served as Chairman of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability’s Petroleum Investments Committee (PIC). He remains an active leader in the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Dallas Chapter and serves on the board of several Dallas non-profits, such as the Friends of Katy Trail and the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens.

    Charlie lives in Dallas with his wife and three daughters. When he's not busy working on oil and gas deals, he enjoys spending time in the mountains with his family and listening to music.

  • Clinton Koerth

    EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

    Clint Koerth is the Executive Vice President of Elk Range Royalties. Most recently, Clint was the founder and CEO of Castell Oil Company, a Natural Gas Partners portfolio company focused on the SCOOP play in southern Oklahoma.

    Clint began his career as an independent petroleum landman, working with Snyder Oil Corporation, Carla Petroleum and Finley Resources. Acting as Vice President of Land and Business Development, Clint was then part of CH4 Energy, LLC's founding team, a Natural Gas Partners portfolio company focused on the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, which was later sold to Bill Barrett Corporation. He then returned to Finley Resources as a partner and Vice President of Acquisitions and Land.

    Clint holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma where he studied Petroleum Land Management and was a member of the men's golf team. He then received an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Clint has been on the steering committee of ADAM Energy Fort Worth during the formation of the organization, is a member of Fort Worth Wildcatters, and several regional ADAM groups.

    Clint grew up in central Texas and Alaska, though now he lives in Fort Worth with his wife and two children. He enjoys mountain biking, fly-fishing, and spending time with his family in Wyoming and New Mexico.

  • Jeff Stewart

    EVP Engineering & COO

    Jeff Stewart is the Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President of Elk Range Royalties. Prior to Elk Range, Jeff was Vice President in Citi’s A&D group, where he advised on $20 billion in executed transactions. Jeff’s work focused on valuation and technical advisory to Citi’s clients across A&D, M&A, and capital raises.

    Jeff began his career with Schlumberger in Argentina in operations. He then moved to graduate school at UT Austin, where he pursued a masters degree in Petroleum Engineering, focusing on multiphase flow research and modelling. Jeff then joined BHP, first in their Trinidad and Tobago asset and later in their Permian and Eagle Ford groups, where he worked in a variety of functions including A&D. Jeff is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

    Jeff currently lives in Dallas with his wife, daughter, and puggle. Jeff enjoys travelling with his family, downhill skiing, and learning new languages.

  • Ashleigh Bell

    VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

    Ashleigh Bell is the Vice President of Finance and Accounting at Elk Range Royalties. Prior to Elk Range, Ashleigh was a Senior Associate in Riveron’s Financial Advisory Services practice. Ashleigh’s work focused on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, implementation of new accounting standards, and advising on a myriad of technical accounting issues.

    Ashleigh began her career in Houston with PwC as a financial statement auditor focusing on oilfield services clients in the firm’s core assurance practice. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Virginia in Commerce and Accounting respectively.

    Ashleigh and husband, Sean, recently welcomed their first son Samuel Bell to the family along with their golden retriever, Odie. In her spare time, Ashleigh enjoys hiking, skiing, volunteering with the Junior League of Dallas, and baking desserts for her friends and family.

  • Evan Vanderbilt

    DIRECTOR OF LAND

    Evan Vanderbilt is the Director of Land at Elk Range Royalties, where he is responsible for the land group's daily operations, including overseeing all front-end deal evaluations, title/due diligence projects, and closing phases of the company's acquisition efforts. Evan joined Elk Range in 2020 after a significant tenure at Luxe Minerals, LLC, where he played a key role in building and managing a portfolio of assets covering 15,000 net royalty acres in the Midland and Delaware Basin, leading to a successful multi-million dollar exit.

    Evan’s career began in 2008 in Fort Worth, Texas, where he led numerous leasing, curative, and A&D due diligence projects in the Barnett Shale and Appalachian Basin. With more than 15 years of experience in the industry as a Landman, Evan has worked with PE firms, mid-sized, and major exploration and production companies across nearly every basin in the Lower 48. He has established himself as a versatile, solutions-focused professional with a track record of developing innovative systems and processes that optimize asset management practices.

    Evan graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, where he also obtained his Petroleum Land Management certificate from the TCU Energy Institute. Now settled in Austin, Texas, Evan enjoys family life with his wife and three sons.

  • Heather Betancur

    Manager of People & Marketing

    Heather Betancur is the Manager of People and Marketing at Elk Range Royalties, where she plays a central role in shaping company culture, optimizing operations, and supporting the growth and development of the Elk Range team. With over a decade of experience spanning office management, accounting, and human resources, Heather brings a people-first mindset paired with a strong operational foundation. She oversees recruiting and hiring efforts across the organization, partnering closely with leadership to attract, onboard, and retain top talent aligned with Elk Range’s values and long-term vision. In addition to her people-focused responsibilities, Heather leads Elk Range’s web and social media presence, ensuring the company’s brand, voice, and values are authentically represented both internally and externally. Heather has designed and managed multiple office buildouts throughout her career, most notably the original 5,000sqf warehouse conversion that is now Elk Range’s headquarters in the Dallas Design District, as well as the recent expansion and reconfiguration of the space to over 10,000 square feet to support the firm’s continued growth and functionality.

    Originally from Roswell, New Mexico, Heather attended New Mexico State University, where she studied Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. It was there that she discovered her natural talent for connecting with people, building strong cultures, and creating environments where teams can thrive—skills that have become the cornerstone of her career. Her ability to align people, process, and space has made her an invaluable asset in scaling organizations efficiently and thoughtfully.

    Heather lives in Dallas with her husband, Eric, an Executive Sous Chef at Uchi, along with their two dogs, Django and Abby, and their cat, Dini. Outside of work, she enjoys great music, classic cars, traveling, and enriching her life through meaningful experiences with interesting people.
