Job Summary
Elk Range Royalties is seeking an experienced Controller. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Accounting Team and will report directly to the VP of Finance and Accounting as well as work closely with the Accounting Manager and various internal teams. The role will be located in Dallas, Texas and is required to be in-person.
Essential Functions
Oversee all aspects of financial reporting for all Elk Range entities including quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry standards
Oversee the preparation and submission of required quarterly reports to NGP and the banks
Manage the annual audits and work with tax advisors to facilitate the K-1 process
Manage outsourced accounting resources to ensure timeliness and accuracy of general accounting and other critical workflows
Conduct detailed review and analysis of financial performance of acquisitions to ensure appropriate asset management (in pay with operators timely and accurately)
Collaborate with internal teams (finance, land, engineering, and development) to complete and enhance current workflows – e.g., accruals, LOS preparation, and variance analysis.
Be a leader of the accounting function and prioritize development of the team
Assist the VP of Finance & Accounting with liquidity management
Manage the settlement process with acquisition and divestiture counterparties
Complete projects as requested by management
Other ad hoc duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required; finance, accounting, or business preferred
8+ years of relevant work experience
CPA with oil and gas experience preferred
Familiarity with oil and gas accounting software systems with experience in implementation being a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
Experience working with an offshore team is a plus
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and capacity to balance a large workload.
Working knowledge of Spotfire (or Power BI/ Alteryx/Tableau), SQL and/or Python is a plus.
Travel Requirements
Potential 5% - 10% domestic and international travel required for meetings, trainings, and conferences. International travel would involve an annual on-site training session with the team in India.
