Finance Associate
Elk Range Royalties is an active buyer of mineral and royalty interests in the US. We have partnered with NGP Energy, an investment firm with an over 30-year history of investing in the oil and gas business. This provides us with strong financial backing in the form of patient capital with a long-term horizon. The company is currently investing capital out of its second equity commitment from NGP under Elk Range Royalties II, LP. Elk Range Royalties III, LP is expected to be launched in early 2025.

Summary
Elk Range Royalties is seeking an experienced Finance Associate. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Finance Team and will report directly to the VP of Finance and Accounting as well as work closely with the VP of Engineering and CEO. The role will be located in Dallas, Texas.
Essential Functions
Maintain and optimize the corporate financial model to support quarterly distribution forecasting and assist with ad hoc analysis.
Prepare and maintain financial dashboards to reconcile results to accruals to improve forecasting.
Assist with economic evaluations and support for acquisition and divesture efforts.
Consider and propose creative deal structures and financing during underwriting
Analyze revenue and operating statements (check stubs and LOS)
Leverage understanding of oil and gas marketing and how it impacts commercial parameters
Assist with capital call process
Maintain hedge book and identify advantageous hedging opportunities
Lead the design and maintenance of presentations for various Elk Range stakeholders including banks, the board, investors, and employees.
Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
Must be willing to travel as needed (expected to be less than 10% of the time).
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Team-player with the ability to handle simultaneous projects and changing priorities that accompany the fast-paced nature of a deals-oriented business.
Must be self-motivated, maintain a strong work ethic, pay attention to detail, have a sense of urgency, and be able to balance a large workload.
Expert-level proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the minerals and E&P businesses preferred.
Strong understanding of corporate/financial modeling and valuation methodologies
Knowledge of the technical inputs to asset valuation and reserves and their impact on financial metrics.
Basic understanding of commodity hedging principles.
Ability to compile and manipulate large data sets from a variety of sources to assist with technical analysis (Enverus/RSEG/DrillingInfo, state regulatory data).
Ability to communicate and work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to anticipate and execute value-adding projects with minimal supervision.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Spotfire (or Power BI/ Alteryx), SQL and/or Python is a plus.
A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is required.
A minimum of 2 years of applicable experience is required.
