Summary
Elk Range Royalties is seeking a motivated Land Intern to join our Land team and gain hands-on experience evaluating mineral and royalty ownership across major U.S. producing basins. The intern will work alongside experienced land professionals and other members of the acquisition team to analyze ownership, title, acreage, leases, units, and regulatory data in support of real mineral and royalty acquisitions.
This role will provide practical experience applying land concepts to real-world oil and gas investment decisions while gaining exposure to mineral and royalty ownership calculations, title and tract analysis, unitization, GIS mapping, acquisition due diligence, and operator development activity. This role also offers the opportunity to work across Land, Engineering, Business Development, and Data Development teams to better understand how land analysis influences asset valuation and investment strategy.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Strong interest in oil and gas land, mineral and royalty ownership, and the energy industry.
Interest in learning title research, legal descriptions, leases, mineral and royalty interest types, and NRI/NRA calculations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS is a plus.
Willingness to investigate problems independently, ask questions, and learn new technologies and workflows.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Graduating after Summer 2027.
